What it is
A vitamin E supplement built around the fuller family of tocopherols and tocotrienols, taken to protect the delicate polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs) in your cell membranes from oxidative wear. Because vitamin E is fat-soluble, it sits inside the membrane itself and takes the oxidative hits so the structural fats stay intact. Think of it as the guard for the fats omega-3s help build in.
Why the evidence supports it
The rationale here is basic membrane chemistry with solid backing: the body's vitamin E requirement is understood to scale with how much polyunsaturated fat you take in, and animal work shows adding vitamin E to PUFA-rich diets protects tissue lipids from peroxidation. In other words, the more omega-3s you feed your membranes, the more antioxidant cover those fats need to keep from going rancid.
