How it works
Transform — forms coenzyme A, required for acetyl-CoA formation and entry of fuel substrates into the citric-acid cycle, and for fatty-acid oxidation
Build — coenzyme A is the required substrate for synthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol, and steroid hormones
Exchange — absorbed via the same sodium-dependent multivitamin transporter (SMVT) that biotin uses, so extremely high supplemental biotin intake can theoretically compete with and reduce pantothenic acid absorption at that shared transport step
Build — as part of coenzyme A, pantothenic acid is also required for synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, since CoA supplies the acetyl group combined with choline to form it -- linking B5 status to the same acetylcholine pathway as choline itself
Form matters
The same nutrient can be made in very different forms — and a study done on one form does not automatically apply to another. Methylcobalamin is not cyanocobalamin; magnesium glycinate is not magnesium oxide; a whole-food extract is not the synthetic isolate that was studied. Two things decide whether what is in the bottle behaves like the research: the exact form, and independent lab verification (a Certificate of Analysis) that the form and dose on the label are truly what is inside. Without a COA, you are trusting a label, not the science.
