Cortitrol's 110-165mg (depending on schedule) is roughly a tenth or less of the 1.5-3g/day range used for reliable LDL-lowering — this is a trace inclusion at these doses, not a cholesterol-management active. Structure/function only.

How it works

  • Exchange — structurally similar to cholesterol, competitively reducing intestinal cholesterol absorption at higher doses

  • Maintain — studied in athletes for post-exercise immune-marker support, a mechanistic/preclinical area of interest

  • Adapt — because Cortitrol's 110-165mg dose is far below the multi-gram range shown to affect cholesterol absorption, its inclusion here is better explained by the separate, lower-dose research on plant sterols and post-exertion immune-marker modulation than by any cholesterol mechanism

  • Exchange — structurally, beta-sitosterol differs from cholesterol only by one extra ethyl group on its side chain -- a small difference that is nonetheless enough for the body to absorb plant sterols far less efficiently than cholesterol itself, a built-in ceiling on how much circulates even with high intake

Form matters

The same nutrient can be made in very different forms — and a study done on one form does not automatically apply to another. Methylcobalamin is not cyanocobalamin; magnesium glycinate is not magnesium oxide; a whole-food extract is not the synthetic isolate that was studied. Two things decide whether what is in the bottle behaves like the research: the exact form, and independent lab verification (a Certificate of Analysis) that the form and dose on the label are truly what is inside. Without a COA, you are trusting a label, not the science.
